*NEW*  Volunteer Screening Requirements – 2026–27 Season

Devon Minor Hockey Association is committed to providing a safe environment for all participants.

DMHA is implementing updated volunteer screening requirements in accordance with Hockey Alberta’s Minimum Screening Standards for Member Organizations.

MANDATORY Screening Requirements

NEW Volunteer screening requirements are based on the level of responsibility and participant contact associated with each role.

Individuals in direct participant-contact roles — including Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Team Managers, Trainers and designated regular team volunteers (as well as the Executive, Board & Screening Committee) are required to complete the applicable Criminal Record Check (Police Information Check) and Vulnerable Sector Screening.

> STEP 1:  Please use this form to obtain your police check at no cost from the police detachment in your area or residence [Devon or Spruce Grove for Parkland County residents] :  CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK / VSC FORM

> STEP 2:  Once obtained, please send to registrar@devonminorhockey.com

Validity of Screening Documents – 2026–27 Season

For the 2026–27 season:

  • Criminal Record Checks (CRCs) will be accepted if obtained in the 2025 or 2026 calendar year.
  • Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSCs) must be obtained in the 2026 calendar year to be considered valid.

    SCREENING IN PROGRESS - If a required screening check has been requested but is still processing, volunteers are asked to contact DMHA. In appropriate circumstances, provisional participation may be permitted while screening is being processed, subject to DMHA’s provisional screening requirements and participant-safety restrictions.

Privacy and Screening Records

Screening documentation will be handled confidentially by the DMHA Screening Committee to confirm and record that requirements have been met. Copies of Criminal Record Checks or Vulnerable Sector Checks will not be retained, and access to screening information will be limited to authorized members of the Screening Committee.
